Towards a Community‐Based Dementia Care Strategy: How do We Get There from Here?

In this paper, we make the case that although the onset of dementia is often portrayed as a catastrophic event, leading almost inevitably to loss of independence and institutionalization, a majority of PLWD can continue to live relatively independently for most or all of their lives if diagnosed at an early stage and can be provided with coordinated access to needed home and community care (H&CC).
